PORTRAIT DRAWING with Graphite101
Course Details

In this series students go from beginner to advanced methods and techniques . Starting with 101 Introduction, students will learn the very basics of drawing structure, shape and form.  We’ll start at the very beginning, from how to use line and basic shapes, to facial divisions, adding details such as eyes nose and mouth.  We’ll study 3 facial views, front, side and 3/4 and round it off with adding values and details such as ears and hair.

102. Drawing Eyes ZOOM MEET UP THROUGH STUDIO

In this intermediate course students will explore the element of the eyes in detail. From structure, placement and shape.  We’ll start perfecting form through extensive and quick studies, renderings and value studies.  We’ll spend time on essential structure elements such as lashes and eye brows.

This is an advanced class, students should be comfortable using graphite and have taken Introduction to Drawing the Face 101 or an equivalent, or feel very comfortable with facial elements and structure and can draw with confidence.

103 Drawing Elderly Eyes

in this mini advanced class students will be introduced to drawing elderly eyes.  We’ll study the complexities of shape, form, skin textures, and tonal changes. What to look for, line vs edging and undertake an informative investigation into this subject

This is an advanced class.  Students should be comfortable with using graphite and have taken Introduction to Drawing the Face 101 or an equivalent, or feel very comfortable with facial elements and structure and can draw with confidence.

104 Drawing the Mouth & Nose

In this intermediate course students will explore the element of the mouth and nose in details.  From structure, placement and shape. We’ll start perfecting form through extensive and quick studies, renderings and value studies.  We’ll spend time on essential structure elements such as line, and value to hone our skills in forms.

105 Portrait Drawing Advanced Methods

In this advanced class students will dive into perfecting their skills with portrait drawing.  We’ll dive into perfecting your drawing skills through a follow along class, with tone and deep value studies.  This class will not deal with basic shape but we’ll dive right in to looking at a subject and drawing what we see using a non tracing method.  Then we’ll study the form, look at skin details, and investigate more challenging subjects such as deep shadows, full value ranges, highlights and textures on small studies.  A very important class for those who really want to take their portrait drawing to the next level

Pre-requisite:  Feel very comfortable with graphite drawing, value ranges, and can drawing basic shapes with confidence.  Please contact me to verify this is a class for you.

Portrait Drawing with Coloured Pencils
In this introduction class we’ll start using colour to create faces.  We’ll work with various
 skin tones, delve into choosing colours, layering, adding details and more.  This is a fun beginners class with lots of drawing, learning and studies

202 Drawing Eyes with Colour

Perfecting the use of colour to create your art can be challenging.  In this intermediate class students will delve into the application of colour pencils to create more realistic eyes.  We’ll discuss textures of skin, eye surfaces, reflections, eyelashes and eyebrows.  How to tackle elements of the iris, the inner eye, tear line and more.  

This is an intermediate class, students need to have a good selection of coloured pencils available, and be comfortable with the medium, as well as drawing with confidence.  A basic class in portrait drawing is recommended or to be comfortable with both media and drawing.

An intermediate class in elements of the face.  Nose and mouth creates their own form of challenges.  From shine to forms created completely with light and shadow, these two facial elements are extremely important and once mastered students can be confident in drawing advanced subjects.
