Coloured Pencil: Foundations

Coloured pencil is a precise and rewarding medium that builds on itself, each layer of colour adding depth, light, and dimension to the one before.

​

A six-week course in coloured pencil technique for beginners, taught live via Zoom by Victoria-based artist Jeannette Sirois. If you cannot attend the live sessions, you can complete the full course independently through complete session recordings, all written references, and video feedback on request. Live attendance and independent study are equally supported.

Over six sessions you will develop a working understanding of materials, layering, blending, light, shadow, and colour relationships, building toward a completed botanical subject in the final unit. Each session is three hours of focused colour work. Drawing preparation is supported through pre-class materials sent in advance, so class time is spent entirely on technique.

All sessions are recorded with timestamped chapters and captions. Please note that these are recordings of live Zoom sessions, not standalone produced classes. Video access runs for one year from the course start date. Access links are sent via email every Saturday.

This course is for students who are new to coloured pencil and want to build a genuine technical foundation.

​

Before You Register This course focuses entirely on coloured pencil technique. Each session begins with your graphite underdrawing already complete. Pre-class materials are provided to support you in getting there, but class time is reserved for colour work only.

Pre-Class Delivery (each unit) Sent one week before the first session of each unit:

• Photo reference

• Printable line drawing

• Prerecorded observational drawing video
